In case you didn’t know, Nicki Minaj in collaboration with MTV just released her second television documentary entitled “Micki Minaj: My time again”. This sequel to her first television documentary “Nicki Minaj My Time Now” gives Nicki’s fans and the world a closer look at what makes this multimillionaire dollar recording artist, TV personality and entrepreneur tick.
At the same time, this documentary shows a softer side of Onika Tanya Maraj, who is this amazingly strong woman who isn’t afraid to tell people ho it really is. Her raw talent and willingness to put herself out there as a “boss” who has flaws but doesn’t let those flaws define her and dictate her life as a person and an artist. This idea also got me wondering how many people are left in this industry who can say that they are genuine artist who also embody the people that their friends and families would attest them to be? My guess is not many. As competition to be the best and to remain as such heats up, its frightening to see what lengths people will go to in order to have their fifteen minutes of fame.
But I digress….back to the documentary! **clears throat** From this small glimpse into Nicki’s life you can clearly see that she pours her heart and should into everything that she does. Her latest VMA performance and musical album is a testimony to this fact. Nicki herself said ” I didn’t want to make an album that was ‘fake happy’ I wanted to deal with the unhappiness and move on. I believe that this is something that everyone needs to take to heart, especially with depression and other forms of mental health become the “norm” in our societies. How is it that we are allowing ourselves to harbor such negative feelings and expect positive outcomes to follow? As a ferm believer of you get back what you put forth out onto the universe, I believe that more people need to take Nicki’s advise and to face their demons and to make peace with them and to move on. If you don’t…then those same demons will eat you from the inside out. (AND AIN’T NO BODY GOT TIME FO’ THAT!)
Another quote from this documentary that stood out to me is:
Nicki also stated “I am stepping out of myself and looking at myself more.” this simple action is something that we all can do in order to hold our selves accountable, because if we don’t hold ourselves accountable….then who will? We have to be the masters of our own goals, dreams and aspirations!
At the end of this documentary Nicki leaves us with these words of wisdom “one of the secrets of life is to embody love”……I will leave that phrase up to your own interpretation, but I will say this. With all of the crazy events that are occurring in our world. I believe that if we can find the love we should have towards every living creature. Out wold will be a better place
PS. Seriously watch this documentary!
